I stopped doing Friday Finds in 2011, when I joined Pinterest. The site makes it easy to save and share the things I find online all in one place, but I kind of miss the “editorial” aspect of sharing here. While I will continue to pin, Friday Finds will return on a biweekly basis—with a couple changes: Less photos (so much cropping and uploading) and much less wedding coverage. I’ve purged nearly all wedding-related blogs from my RSS feed, which is a good thing. I think. I did edit a wedding publication a few months ago and got a little wistful about some trends I’d missed, like naked cakes.
1. BAY AREA LOVE: First up, this random but awesome wallpaper (above) featuring illustrations of notable Bay Area residents and locations, from chef Alice Waters and rapper E-40 to the cranes at the Port of Oakland and Fairyland’s spouting whale. Designed by Jorma Taccone, of The Lonely Island, and Matt Ritchie, you can purchase it on Flavor Paper ($125 per roll). [Via Sunset]
2. WANDERLUST: I’d love to explore the incredible snow tunnels in Scotland. This natural phenomenon occurs when the snow begins to melt and water flows underneath, creating a tunnel of air. As the snow continues to melt, the tunnels expand, sometimes becoming large enough for people to walk through. [Via Daily Mail]
3. HOME SWEET HOME: When I spotted some concrete tea and coffee cup planters in my RSS feed, I immediately followed the link and bought two. Each is the perfect size for one small succulent, and they look adorable on my counter. I might need more. [Via Cathy Zielske]
4. THE LOL FILE: “Why You Hate Google’s New Logo.” While logo updates aren’t that big a deal (I mean, there could be some negative effects, but it’s not the end of the world), I am not a fan of the new sans serif Google. This article pretty much sums up all the feels.
