I’m still playing catch-up with my iPhone photos. Hehe. These are from summer and among the last from my ShakeIt Photo app. Soon after, I hopped on Instagram and never looked back. (Although, I’ll likely miss that consistent border and hue, when it comes to posting grids of photos here!) So, let’s get to it. Here’s what my life looked like in June, according to my iPhone…
-2: For Father’s Day, most of us siblings gathered at my parents’ house for a big brunch. We all prepared a dish—well, Erin prepared three quiches—and spent the morning/afternoon feasting, relaxing, and sharing stories. It was a lot of fun. BTW, I made these bacon and corn griddle cakes, and they were sooo good. Savory and sweet.
Don, a family friend who lost his wife to cancer several years ago, was remarried in a fun, casual Hawaiian-themed celebration. We all wore Hawaiian outfits and brought a dish to share. There ended up being a lot of sushi! It was such a sweet, special day.
My little cousins Riley, Allyson, and Ashley enjoying the watermelon Rice Krispies treats I made for the family Fourth of July gathering. So fun to see those Colorado girls!
One of the sun-bathing lizards outside my office. They’re so skittish! Well, except for this one time, when I absent-mindedly stepped on one. And it was huge. I panicked, thinking I likely hurt it. It ran back into the bushes, so I’ll never know. :(
My aunt’s pet bird, Sunshine. I love this pic. He’s got his eye on me!
Jack gets a workout in at my parent’s house. (Although, you know if was really running, he’d be nowhere near it!)
I love saying hello to the resident turtle at Orchard Nursery in Lafayette, whenever I stop by. I am such an animal nut. Obviously.
Admiring the architecture of the National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi on a trip to the city. Next time, I need to go inside. After browsing the website, I realize I missed some pretty amazing paintings!
Paul and I sign the graffiti wall at the press night of American Idiot. It was cool to see this Broadway show that began in the East Bay, but I confess, it wasn’t one of my favorites. Lots of angst and not a lot of plot. More like a Green Day cover band concert. ;)
After living in the Bay Area for most of my life, I finally saw the famous Beach Blanket Babylon. Club Fugazi was smaller than I imagined; those crazy hats really did take up the whole stage! Following the show, we got our garlic on at The Stinking Rose.
Another press night, this one for Les Miserables! This is probably the 5th or 6th time I’ve seen Les Mis. The music is so great, and I can’t wait to see the movie version coming out this winter!
My new obsession: fried Oreos. Actually, the entire menu at Sauced BBQ & Spirits, which is one of the newer hotspots in Livermore. Paul and I can’t get enough of the burnt ends, smoky baked beans, and, well, fried Oreos. We recently scooped up six Local Gruv coupons, so we need to visit once a week to use them before they expire. Darn… ;)
Paul folds church programs using some very old machinery. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you can pretty much fold your arm. Heh. No bueno. The key for this machine is kept under lock and key.
15. My new zebra haworthia. I love how these look! I’m on the hunt for a cute little pot for it.
16. I ordered a Roy Rogers on a work visit to Campo di Bocce (it’s how we non-drinkers roll). And they labeled the napkins for us. Clever.
