Happy Fourth of July! I’m headed to a BBQ with extended family this afternoon, and after seeing the Watermelon Krispie Treats on Glorious Treats, I knew I had to whip up these perfect summer sweets for the occasion. The assembly was pretty easy, albeit sticky! Glory says she used 1 or 2 drops of Americolor gel, but I needed 8 to 10 drops of Wilton gel to get the right color. Since I couldn’t find retro paper straws in local craft or party stores (an oversight, no?), I went with large Wilton cookie sticks, with a little pre-skewering help from a chopstick. For the party, I wrapped each treat individually in plastic tied with green polka dot ribbon. I love how they turned out, and I think they’ll be a hit. I hope you’ll have a fun BBQ- and fireworks-filled day!
*UPDATE: I just came across some retro paper straws in Target. Yes, Target. True story. Who knew?
